The Hale Boggs Bridge, connecting the east and west banks of St. Charles Parish.  For the first 250 years of its existence St. Charles Parish was divided by the Mississippi River.  The eastern end of the bridge (northern end, really, since the river flows west to east at this location) is in Destrehan, and the western end (southern) is in Luling.  The bridge and I-310 have opened up the area for further residential and commercial development.
